Position OverviewÂ
The Associate Designer, Aéropostale Guys, supports the design team in the development and execution of apparel collections from concept through production. This role works closely with Merchandising, Technical Design, and Production to help deliver on-brand, commercially viable product while meeting seasonal timelines. The Associate Designer contributes to design development, assists with execution, and helps maintain organizational and operational workflows across key categories.Â

Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
Design & Creative SupportÂ
- Assist in developing seasonal concepts, color palettes, prints, and silhouettes aligned with brand directionÂ
- Create design sketches and technical flats using Adobe Illustrator under guidance from senior team membersÂ
- Support fabric, trim, and color selection in collaboration with cross-functional partnersÂ
- Help build mood boards, concept decks, and presentation materials for seasonal reviewsÂ
- Conduct trend, market, and competitive research using digital platforms (e.g., TikTok, Instagram, Miro, WGSN)Â
Â
Product Development & ExecutionÂ
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of tech packs, including measurements, construction details, and design intentÂ
- Participate in fit sessions; take notes, track updates, and support revisions through approvalÂ
- Help review samples throughout development to ensure alignment with design direction, quality, and fit standardsÂ
- Maintain accurate records and track updates to support on-time product developmentÂ

Cross-Functional CollaborationÂ
- Partner with Merchandising to support alignment with line plans and seasonal goalsÂ
- Work with Technical Design and Production teams to ensure design feasibility and quality standardsÂ
- Communicate design details and updates to vendors and internal partnersÂ
- Support seasonal milestone meetings and help ensure deadlines are metÂ
Â
Operational & Team SupportÂ
- Maintain organized design files, reference materials, and seasonal documentationÂ
- Update PLM systems, line plans, and internal tracking toolsÂ
- Assist with market preparation, presentations, and collaboration projects as neededÂ
Â
QualificationsÂ
EducationÂ
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field preferredÂ
ExperienceÂ
- 1–3 years of apparel design experience (internships included)Â
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment preferredÂ
- Menswear experience a plusÂ
- Portfolio requiredÂ
SkillsÂ
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; familiarity with PLM systems preferredÂ
- Experience using Miro or similar tools for collaborationÂ
- Exposure to AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Vizcom) for ideation and visualization is a plusÂ
- Strong sketching and attention to detailÂ
- Basic understanding of garment construction, fabrications, and fitÂ
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlinesÂ
- Strong written and verbal communication skillsÂ
