The Atlantic is seeking an ambitious and energetic talent booker to join the newsroom, reporting to a managing editor. This person will assist with securing and coordinating high-profile interviews and guest appearances across editorial platforms, including the print magazine, website, Book Club, podcasts, video, newsletters, and audience platforms. The ideal candidate will be resourceful, organized, nimble, persuasive, and collaborative, with a clear and proactive communication style, excellent diplomatic and research skills, and a strong understanding of journalistic standards. Booking experience is a plus, not a must.
Responsibilities may include:
- Serve as a point of contact for editors, producers, and other newsroom leaders seeking to identify and book high-profile interview subjects and guest talent
- Negotiate contracts and releases in coordination with the legal team where appropriate
- Facilitate logistics for virtual and on-site appearances, including coordination with editors, producers, as well as the editorial operations and building management teams
- Build a rolodex of existing and potential contacts
- Create and maintain tracking systems for upcoming interviews for internal awareness and cross-team coordination
- Assist with other pre- or post-production logistics as needed
Salary minimum: $77,000; Salary maximum: $85,000
This position is based in either New York or Los Angeles.
