This position is part of the Corporate Finance Group and focuses on credit analysis and credit approval for lending to primarily Japanese corporate clients.
The Credit Analyst will:
- Analyze companies’ financial statements, including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow.
- Evaluate credit risk, business risks, and industry conditions.
- Assign and maintain internal credit ratings.
- Prepare credit application and approval memos and coordinate the internal approval process.
- Monitor existing borrowers and conduct periodic credit reviews.
- Work closely with Relationship Managers, Risk Management, and Head Office.
- Communicate credit analysis and transaction details to Head Office and internal risk teams.
- Provide credit and risk recommendations to the front-office/Relationship Management team.
- Support the bank's credit policies and risk management framework.
Requirements
Required:
- Minimum 3 years of experience at a bank or financial institution.
- Strong experience in financial statement and credit analysis.
- Strong understanding of Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow.
- Business-level English, both written and verbal.
- Business-level Japanese; native or near-native preferred.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred:
- Corporate banking experience.
- Experience working with Japanese corporate clients.
- Knowledge of credit rating models and credit approval processes.
- Understanding of the U.S. market and regulatory environment.
- CPA, CFA, or FRM certification.
