Position Overview

The Exchange Technician (XT) will be on the front line of Hudson’s recovery and exchange business. The XT will be travelling to customer sites, picking up “full” refrigerant recovery cylinders and leaving “empty” cylinders in their place. As such, the XT will also play an important role in establishing and maintaining customer relationships.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Field Exchange Operations: 
    • Exchange recovery cylinders at customer sites, including pick-up of “full” and drop-off of “empty” recovery cylinders. Ensure consistent adherence to established process and procedures for cylinder management.
    • Complete depot activities required for recovery & exchange (organizing cylinders, palletizing, shipping/ receiving support, visibility into inventory, obtaining required materials)
    • Complete required documentation of customer, order, and cylinder details to ensure that customer cylinders are properly associated to orders throughout the process. This also includes completing BOLs for each customer visit.
  • Equipment & Vehicle Readiness: 
    • Monitor & maintain recovery and associated equipment readiness
    • Keep the assigned vehicle clean, in good condition, and maintained according to the manufacturer’s manual.
    • Provide daily vehicle inspections, as required.
  • Compliance, Safety, and Documentation: 
    • Ensure compliance with all DOT, EPA, and OSHA regulations.
    • Follow company processes, procedures, safety standards, and daily schedules.
  • Support for Business/ Sales Activities: 
    • Support Sales/ Account Managers as needed to develop new recovery (and exchange) opportunities
    • Work with Sales & Management to identify build new customer relationships and maintain the existing client base, striving to meet exchange goals/ metrics.
    • Demonstrate excellent customer service through daily activities, communications, and interactions that are cooperative, positive, and professional

Required Education and Skills

  • Current CDL Class B with HazMat Endorsement 
  • Maintain DOT Medical Card
  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Valid and “clean” state driver’s license
  • Willingness to work outdoors and travel within the assigned territory
  • Capable of utilizing field devices (e.g. tablets, scanners) and software required for effective communication and documentation of work performed.
  • Experience with a proven track record in customer satisfaction

Preferred Skills

  • Powered Industrial Truck (Forklift) Certification License

Physical demands

  • Must be able to work outside in the weather-related elements
  • A lot of time will be spent in the truck/driving
  • This position entails very heavy work which requires exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally (possibly up to 350 pounds), and/or in excess of 75 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force constantly to move/lift objects
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk or hear
