  • The role involves designing the integration operating model, leading cross-functional teams through the integration process, and ensuring value realization from acquisitions.
  • Candidates should demonstrate strong commercial acumen and the ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority, as well as possess excellent program management skills.
  • The salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience, reflecting the seniority and responsibilities of the role.
  • Signers National champions a socially conscious workplace and is committed to equal opportunity employment for all employees.

Signers National is a leading insurance platform that provides a range of brokerage and underwriting services to organizations of all sizes. Starting in 2008 as a small retail broker focused on nonprofit & human service organizations, Signers has since expanded its portfolio to include commercial real estate and transportation. Signers is a socially conscious organization boasting an amazing culture of relentless grit and continuous improvement. We go to work every day to positively affect people's lives, and we strive to do the same for our employees.

Signers National is building acquisition integration into a core, repeatable capability. Because we intend to be a hands-on, “heavy” integrator of the businesses we acquire, this role owns the end-to-end integration function — not the execution of a single deal. The Director, M&A Integration designs the integration operating model and playbook, leads the Integration Management Office (IMO) on every transaction, and is accountable for capturing the value, synergies, and operational outcomes underwritten in each deal.

This person partners with the deal team during diligence to pressure-test the value thesis, then leads cross-functional execution from signing through full integration and the realization of committed synergies. Success is measured by deal value delivered, integration speed and quality, talent retention, and a continuously improving, institutionalized playbook.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy, Playbook & Function-Building

• Design and own Signers National’s integration operating model, governance, and repeatable playbook (Day 1 readiness, 30/60/100-day plans, exit criteria, and value-capture tracking).

• Build and continuously refine integration templates, checklists, tools, and dashboards so each successive acquisition integrates faster and more reliably than the last.

• Codify lessons learned after each deal and embed them into the playbook to institutionalize integration as a durable competitive advantage.

Diligence & Deal Value

• Partner with the deal team in pre-close diligence to assess integration complexity, cost-to-achieve, and risks, and to validate the synergy and value-creation assumptions underpinning the investment thesis.

• Translate the underwritten value case into a concrete integration plan with owners, milestones, dependencies, and measurable synergy targets before close.

Integration Execution & IMO Leadership

• Lead the Integration Management Office across every transaction, directing functional workstream leaders (Finance, HR, IT, Operations, Sales, Legal, Tax) and managing interdependencies, sequencing, and critical-path issues.

• Own Day 1 readiness, the talent-retention plan for key acquired employees, and the communication plan for employees, customers, vendors, and other stakeholders.

• Run integration governance — steering committee cadence, status reporting, milestone tracking, and rapid escalation and resolution of issues requiring senior input.

• Ensure defined exit criteria are met and document clean handoffs to business-line leaders at the end of each transition period.

Value Realization & Reporting

• Hold accountability for delivering committed synergies and integration outcomes; track realized vs. planned value and report progress to the Head of M&A and executive leadership.

• Identify and mitigate integration risks; proactively flag value leakage and drive corrective action.

Stakeholder & Change Leadership

• Serve as the trusted bridge between acquired-company leadership and Signers National, building alignment and managing cultural integration with minimal disruption to the business.

• Influence and align senior stakeholders without direct authority, holding business-unit and functional leaders accountable to integration commitments.

Qualifications

Required

• 8+ years of relevant experience, including direct ownership of multiple post-merger integrations (buy-side), ideally in a serial-acquirer or integration-led environment.

• Demonstrated accountability for synergy capture / value realization — not just project coordination.

• Track record leading cross-functional teams and holding senior stakeholders accountable without direct line authority.

• Strong commercial and financial acumen; able to connect integration activities to the deal’s value thesis and P&L impact.

• Excellent program management, communication, and executive-presence skills; calm and decisive under pressure and ambiguity.

• Willingness to travel to acquired sites as deals require.

Preferred

• Experience in insurance, financial services, or a closely regulated industry.

• Exposure to building an integration function or IMO from the ground up.

• Background that blends operations or a functional discipline (Finance, HR, IT, Ops) with M&A integration.

• PMP, Lean/Six Sigma, or formal post-merger integration certification.
