Dispatcher – Brooklyn, NY

First Student is now hiring a Dispatcher for our Brooklyn, NY location!

Pay: $25.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-time

Our Dispatchers play an important role in keeping daily transportation operations safe, organized, and on time. In this position, you will coordinate routes, communicate with drivers and customers, respond to service issues, and help keep the operation moving throughout the day.

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee daily bus routes and scheduling.

  • Dispatch buses and help ensure routes operate on time.
  • Communicate with drivers and monitors by phone and radio.
  • Coach and support drivers and monitors on frontline issues.
  • Respond to scheduling concerns, service complaints, and route changes.
  • Serve as a primary communication contact for contracted customers.
  • Help resolve student pick-up and drop-off concerns.
  • Assist with charter reservations, billing, or driver payroll as assigned.
  • Provide backup driving or clerical support when needed.
  • Assist with day-to-day operational supervision and special projects.

What We’re Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Three to five years of relevant experience.
  • Previous dispatch, terminal operations, or professional-driving experience.
  • Basic knowledge of radio-dispatch equipment.
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to remain organized and effective under deadlines.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Appropriate vehicle license preferred.

This position is subject to DOT drug testing and physical requirements. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
