The Educational Talent Search Program is designed to identify youth with the potential for education at the post-secondary level.聽 Encourage qualified individuals to complete high school and enroll in a post-secondary institution of their choice.聽 The program provides individual counseling, advisement, and technical assistance from 9th - 12th grade in career exploration; education planning; college entrance examinations preparation; admission and financial aid procedures; tutoring; cultural and motivational development and guidance on secondary school re-entry to other programs.

聽Other duties:

路 Assist in recruitment of eligible participants.

路聽Responsible for assessing and documenting academic potential, financial eligibility, and first-generation eligibility of participants.

路聽Work with target school counselors in coordinating project activities.

路聽Screen applicants for participant eligibility.

路聽Refer ineligible students to appropriate social and other services.

路聽Assess participant's potential for post-secondary educational training.

路聽Assess participant鈥檚 tutorial needs and recommend tutorial services.

路聽Maintain participant's files according to proposed guidelines.

路聽Assist participants exploring career fields and choosing career goals.

路聽Assist participants in choosing a post-secondary institution.

路聽Implement campus and college day field trips.

路聽Coordinate and implement financial aid workshops for parents and participants.

路聽Assist participants in completing admissions and financial aid forms.

路聽Conduct participant follow-up surveys.

路聽Participate in staff development and in-service meetings.

路聽Perform other duties as required to achieve program goals and objectives.

路聽Be familiar with and adhere to the college's policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

路聽Bachelor's Degree required (master鈥檚 preferred) in Counseling or related area:

路聽Must have at least one year experience counseling disadvantaged youth.

路聽Knowledge and understanding of proper English grammar, format, and usage.

路聽Ability to write clear and narrative reports.

路 Must be familiar with the population of the target area.

路 Ability to communicate effectively with disadvantaged youth.

路聽Knowledge of the financial aid and college procedures.

路聽Knowledge of Special programs and Trio.

路聽Ability to meet and communicate effectively and diplomatically with groups as well as individuals.

路聽Ability to plan for an facilitate the smooth flow of scheduled activities.

路聽Ability to administer and interpret diagnostic and placement tests:

路聽Bilingual is a plus (Spanish)

Pay Range:

Minimum - Maximum: $45,000
