About the Role
Join an early-stage insurance technology and AI team as its first product designer. You will shape the user experience for complex claims workflows, helping operational teams work more effectively with AI-powered tools.
What You'll Do
Design end-to-end experiences across claims workspaces and dashboards used by operators, team leads, and executives.
Research user needs through discovery calls and direct observation, and use behavioral data, heat maps, and usage patterns to prioritize improvements.
Partner with product leadership, forward-deployed engineers, and the engineering team to translate customer problems into clear workflows and implementation-ready designs.
Create interaction models that help users understand AI actions, sources, reasoning, and uncertainty, and decide when to review or intervene.
Guide the product experience from early-stage interfaces to an enterprise-ready platform as new customers and users come on board.
Establish design principles and a design system, prototype with AI tools, and measure whether changes make tasks easier to complete.
What We're Looking For
Five to eight years of product design experience, with consistent tenures in technology companies.
Experience as a founding designer or as the first product design hire at an early-stage startup.
A portfolio demonstrating UX-first design for dense, technical software and complex workflows used regularly by operators.
Experience using research and product usage data to inform design decisions, and familiarity with AI coding and prototyping tools such as Claude and Lovable.
Insurance, claims, healthcare, or other compliance-heavy operational experience is valued, as is experience designing AI and human-in-the-loop workflows.
U.S. work authorization is required. Visa transfers may be considered, but new visa sponsorship is not available.
