POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a polished, detail-oriented, and hospitality-driven Server to join the Moss New York team with Compass Group. Servers play a vital role in delivering a refined and memorable dining experience through attentive service, strong menu knowledge, and elevated guest engagement. This role is essential to maintaining a seamless flow of service, ensuring that every guest feels welcomed, cared for, and supported from the moment they arrive through the completion of their meal. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced fine dining environment, takes pride in anticipating guest needs, and is committed to delivering confident, warm, and highly personalized hospitality.

COMPENSATION:

The hourly wage for this position is $15.00 per hour with tips. 
Training wage during the orientation period is $17.00 per hour.

CLASSIFICATION:

This is a non-exempt, hourly position. In accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), you are eligible for overtime pay at one and a half times your regular rate for all hours worked over 40 in a single workweek.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promptly and warmly greet guests; take food and beverage orders efficiently following established steps of service.
  • Deliver food professionally while maintaining safe food-handling and sanitation standards; follow up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain full knowledge of menu items, ingredients, allergens, and specialized diets; guide guests with food and beverage pairings when requested.
  • Communicate clearly with back-of-house staff to ensure accurate orders and accommodation of special requests.
  • Provide exceptional hospitality with strong communication, teamwork, flexibility, and patience.
  • Handle tickets and follow proper cash-handling procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized dining environment; complete opening, service, and closing side work.
  • Address guest concerns promptly and escalate issues to a supervisor when needed.
  • Operate restaurant equipment including beverage machines, coffee equipment, telephones, and safety tools.
  • Support special events and assist other departments as needed.
  • Maintain appropriate sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 2+ years serving experience in a high-volume, service-driven restaurant environment; upscale or chef-driven concepts preferred.
  • Flexible availability for AM and PM shifts, including weekends.
  • Strong teamwork, professionalism, and a hospitality-first mindset with excellent communication skills.
  • Genuine interest in seasonal, ingredient-driven cuisine with a willingness to expand culinary and beverage knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of classic cocktails, foundational wine varietals, and beer styles; fine-dining or craft beverage experience a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and composure.
