SUMMARY: 

Join Elmcor Youth & Adult Activities, Inc. as a Shelter Shift Supervisor, The Shift Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the residence, ensuring smooth coordination of staff and services while maintaining a safe, structured environment and meeting all program goals, performance targets, and operational standards. 


REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: 

Shift Supervisor reports to Director of Operations 


SCHEDULE: 

35 hours per week with 3 shifts available 

  • 7AM - 3PM 

  • 3PM - 11PM 

  • 11PM - 7AM 


LOCATION: 

Lexington - Jamaica NY 

Van Guard - Long Island City 

Van Wyck - Jamaica NY



POSITION TYPE: 

Fulltime - requires flexibility to cover shifts in the event of staffing shortages or emergencies 


RESPONSIBILITIES IN THIS ROLE: 

  • Oversee daily shelter operations, including staff coordination, shift coverage, and ensuring all activities and schedules run smoothly

  • Supervise, coach, and support staff while maintaining effective communication with residents, team members, and leadership

  • Monitor facility safety through rounds, enforce policies, respond to incidents, and utilize crisis intervention and conflict resolution strategies

  • Maintain accurate documentation, including incident and coverage reports, while ensuring confidentiality and professional standards are upheld

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS degree and/or equivalent experience, or AA degree and 2 years’ experience;

HS Diploma or GED and 3 years applicable experience. 


  • Obtain F-80 certification within first 90 days of employment
