We are seeking two (2) Per Diem Educators for delivering on and off-site programs that make use of the Museum’s collection to engage K12 students, families and adults, including individuals with cognitive, sensory, physical, emotional and behavioral disabilities. Hours are varied, so a flexible schedule is a must. Responsibilities can include:

    Delivery of interactive programs for general K12 education, inclusion, ICT and special education classes largely between the hours of 10:00am and 2:00pm, primarily weekdays Tuesday-Friday, at the Museum, but may include virtual programs.

    Delivery of programs for families, veterans, Museum-based camps and other specialized events occurring primarily on weekends, evenings and/or school breaks. 

    Delivery of offsite programs at schools (both during school and after school hours), memory care centers and community-based fairs. These include both one-time and long-term programs that can take place on varied days and times. 

    Delivery of adult group tours and programs at the Museum that take place at varied times during the weekdays and weekends. 

$25 per hour.  

This position is subject to seasonal changes in the volume of classes and programs delivered. The ideal candidate will have a flexible schedule and be available for a minimum of three days per week. Position includes paid training on Museum content, key audiences, accessibility and reflection on best practices. Educators are expected to attend annual, paid, kick-off trainings in September (Tuesdays, September 15, 22 and 29) and shorter trainings and meetings throughout the year.

 Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in education, science, history, museum studies or a related field or equivalent professional experience. 

    Equivalent of one-year related experience working with varied populations in an educational setting.

    Familiarity with object- and inquiry-based teaching practices.

    Comfortable teaching interdisciplinary history and science programs to varied audiences both on the Museum floor and in classroom settings.

    Ability to effectively differentiate lessons and teaching methods to meet specific academic and social-emotional learning goals.

    Knowledge of culturally responsive teaching is a plus.

    Familiar with best practices for engaging Multilingual Learners and disability-specific instructional strategies.

    Bilingual or multilingual candidates are highly encouraged to apply.

    Must be able to teach groups of various ages and skills including multi-generational groups in a variety of settings with ease and confidence.

    Have excellent communication and organizational skills, both in person and over email.

    Be able to work collaboratively and flexibly with colleagues and off-site partners. 

    Be open to reflective practice and peer feedback.

    Has an outgoing personality and enthusiastic attitude.
