We are seeking a highly organized and customer-focused Unit Clerk to support daily unit operations. In this role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, families, and visitors while providing essential clerical and communication support to the healthcare team. This position plays a key role in improving patient flow and hospital throughput by ensuring timely communication, accurate documentation, and efficient coordination across departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform clerical duties including data entry, order entry, and maintaining patient records
  • Answer phones, route calls, and respond to inquiries professionally
  • Greet and assist patients, families, and visitors with excellent customer service
  • Support admissions, transfers, and discharges to promote efficient patient flow
  • Communicate effectively with nurses, physicians, and ancillary departments
  • Maintain unit supplies and ensure an organized work environment
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality standards

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

Experience:

  • Clerical, administrative, or healthcare experience preferred
  • Hospital or acute care experience strongly preferred

Skills:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, data entry)
  • Experience with EMR systems preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus

Schedule Requirements:

  • Must be available to work every other weekend and holidays
