What you will be doing: - Advise employers and management on a broad range of employment matters, including human resources support, employee complaints, employee misconduct, employee discipline, onboarding and offboarding, terminations, workplace policies, accommodations, leaves, and compliance.
- Advise clients on wage and hour matters, including employee classification, and compliance with federal and state wage and hour laws.
- Counsel clients regarding trade secrets, restrictive covenants, confidentiality, and other employment-related protections.
- Draft and negotiate employment agreements, restrictive covenants, confidentiality agreements, and related documents.
- Defend employers in employment litigation and administrative proceedings involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, wrongful termination, and other employment claims.
- Prosecute or defend clients in trade secret matters involving employee misappropriation and restrictive covenant violations.
- Represent employers before federal and state courts and administrative agencies, including the EEOC.
- Work collaboratively with clients and attorneys across the firm to provide practical and effective employment advice.
Experience you will need: - J.D. from an accredited law school.
- 8+ years of employment experience.
- Substantial employer-side employment counseling experience required.
- Meaningful employment litigation experience required.
- Strong drafting, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Excellent judgment and ability to work independently.
- New Jersey and New York Bar admission required; candidates admitted only in New Jersey must be eligible and commit to seek admission to the New York Bar.
- Experience with restrictive covenant drafting and enforcement, and wage and hour requirements.
- Experience with trade secret claims; representing clients involved in Department of Labor audits, conducting workplace investigations, or handling traditional labor matters is a plus.
