Job Details
The Patient Transporter is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of patients throughout the hospital using wheelchairs, stretchers, beds, and other transport equipment. This role supports patient care by ensuring excellent customer service, safety, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport patients to and from clinical and patient care areas.
- Assist staff with patient transfers and positioning.
- Maintain and care for transport equipment.
- Respond promptly to transport requests.
- Follow all safety, infection prevention, and confidentiality guidelines.
- Attend required training and departmental meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Two years of customer service experience preferred.
- Basic computer and smartphone proficiency.
- Must obtain BLS certification upon hire.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to push, pull, and maneuver patients and equipment.
- Ability to bend, lift, and crouch as needed.
- Must pass a back evaluation examination.
Working Environment
- Fast-paced healthcare setting with frequent interaction with patients, families, and staff.
- Potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and cleaning agents.

This position has a starting rate of $17.80 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $20.90 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $21.93 per hour.This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
