Job DetailsJob Location: Main Office - Newton, MA 02459Per Diem Weekend Nurse Named by The Boston Globe as one of the Top Places to Work in Massachusetts for the last four years, our community-based, mission-driven hospice and palliative care organization seeks a Per Diem Weekend Nurse to join its expanding On-Call team. The position includes weekend availability. Travel is required for this position. Care is provided in patient’s private homes and residential facilities throughout Greater Boston and parts of Metrowest. The ideal candidate is well-organized and enthusiastic about working in a fast-paced environment.   Job Description The Per Diem Weekend Nurse is an integral part of an interdisciplinary hospice team responsible for caring for patients at the end of life. Makes home and hospital visits, provides information sessions, evaluates new patients, facilitates admissions to hospice services and coordinates care planning. Employs triage and assessment skills to titrate medications and manage symptoms appropriately and provides education to patients and families about terminal disease and end-of-life process. Communicates with an interdisciplinary hospice team about changes in patients’ needs, and outcomes of interventions.    Education, Skills and Experience: Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Massachusetts, Bachelors preferred  2 years of nursing experience and at least 1 year of hospice or equivalent nursing experience Sensitivity to and knowledgeable about end-of-life issues  Comfortable working with socioculturally diverse patients/families Demonstrates ability to manage pain and control symptoms Demonstrates flexibility and multitasking abilities   Excellent organizational and time management skills  Exceptional communication skills  Adaptable to frequently changing patient needs Proficient with electronic documentation Comfortable using mobile technologies   Good Shepherd Benefits  Competitive rate  Earned Sick Time  403(b) with company match eligibility  Employee Assistance Program Partnership with Regis College for reduced tuition rates      Pay Range: Per visit rates   Industry: Healthcare   Employment Type: Per Diem - variable hours based on employer needs   About Us: Good Shepherd Community Care is one of the most trusted health care organizations in Greater Boston focusing on hospice and palliative care.
