Adjunct Instructor of English

Sussex County Community College is currently seeing qualified adjunct instructors to teach English Composition I (first year writing course) for our Fall 2026 semester.

Instructors are needed for a three credit courses on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:50am – 1:40pm starting on September 8, 2026. The courses available are in-person on campus at our Newton location.

All instructors are responsible for teaching their assigned courses using a departmentally established course outline based on the master syllabus and assessing the course learning outcomes on the syllabus.

Qualified candidates must have a master’s degree in English from a regionally accredited institution. Prior teaching experience at the community college level is strongly preferred.

The Learning Management System (LMS) that we use is Canvas. Prior knowledge of Canvas or a similar learning platform is preferred.

Adjunct pay is based on $910 per credit.
