They support the Sheeter Operator during machine setups, safely manage production waste, and prepare finished, stacked pallets of sheeted paper for the next phase of shipping or printing.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:                                                                                                                                                           % of Total Time Material Preparation: Staging rolls according to the daily production schedule. 30 Roll Inspection: Pre-inspecting incoming parent rolls for outer core defects, tearing, or moisture damage. 5 Machine Loading: Safely unwrapping rolls, removing old cores, and assisting with roll tracking alignment. 25 Operator Support: Helping thread the paper web through slitter blades, de-curlers, and rollers. 15 Quality Assurance: Frequently measuring cut sheets to verify dimensions, squareness, and catch structural defects. 5 Pallet Packaging: Operating stretch wrappers, banders, and labeling equipment to secure finished skids. 5 Waste Management: Sorting, binding, and recycling paper trimmings to keep the department organized. 5 Preventative Maintenance: Assisting with regular machinery cleanup, lubrication, and basic blade replacement tasks. 5   An individual in this position must be able to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above. QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent; advanced technical training or an associate degree in a related field is preferred. Experience and/or Training: Previous work in warehouse, printing, packaging, or paper manufacturing environments is highly preferred. Familiarity with forklifts, clamp trucks, or manual pallet jacks is often required.   PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:   Technical Basics: Ability to accurately read a tape measure down to 1/32 of an inch and perform basic mathematical tracking calculations. Computer Literacy: Minimal data entry skills to log inventory changes into ERP software or tracking systems. Safety Protocols: Strict commitment to following safety initiatives, Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) protocols, and wearing mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).   PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS: High physical endurance to stand and walk for up to 12 hours on a concrete production floor. Capability to manually lift, push, and handle heavy production items up to 50 lbs. Agility for frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and climbing access stairs around massive equipment. Comfort working in non-climate-controlled plant environments prone to high noise levels, vibrations, and ambient paper dust.
