Amentum is seeking an experienced Engineering Technician to join our team supporting Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) Code 240 Engineering Department Naval Architecture and Damage Control (DC) efforts in the specific area of Galley and Laundry equipment assessment and technical support (C243).

Job responsibilities:

  • Performing inspections, assessments, corrective actions, and training on Galley and Laundry Equipment

  • Conducting cold checks of equipment to identify out-of-specification settings and conditions, and implementing corrective actions

  • Performing operational checks on Galley and Laundry Equipment over the full range of performance to assess operational condition and collect performance data using precision measuring equipment

  • Performing analysis of operational, testing and maintenance parameters and implementing corrective action.

Minimum requirements:

  • The ideal candidate will possess recent experience working aboard US Navy ships performing operational, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks.

  • General Requirements:

    • A working knowledge of Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM), particularly Navy assessment programs, NAVSEA Standard Items, ship access and visit processes, and maintenance and repair reporting methods.

    • Experience using industry standard instrumentation for diagnosing equipment and system performance.

    • Proficiency with technology, including the use of PC workstations, Microsoft Office applications, and web-based applications.

    • Strong oral and written communication skills.

    • Experience using US Navy shipboard deck, bulkhead, and compartment numbering and naming conventions.

  • Specific Requirements:

    • Minimum of four (4) years specialized hands-on experience supporting galley/ laundry assessments on Navy ships.

    • Minimum four (4) years specialized hands-on experience in the operation, repair, maintenance, and inspection support of electrical components and equipment used in commissary spaces, ship’s laundry, and self-serve laundry.

    • Minimum of four (4) years specialized hands-on experience in the operation, repair, maintenanc,e and inspection of grease extractor hoods, interaction between the equipment it services (e.g., griddles or deep fat fryer exhaust), vent dampers for the galley, Aqueous Potassium Carbonate (APC) fire extinguishing system, and all related controls.

    • Knowledge of controlling NAVSEA/NAVSUP Mil Specs and requirements for commissary systems and spaces.

    • Advanced knowledge in the following systems and equipment: IPDS-LR, JBPDS, Collective Protection System (CPS), HALON, CO2, Water Mist, AFFF, Watertight Closers, Fume Tight Closers, and other DC support systems and equipment.

  • Must have an active Secret US Government Clearance. Note: U.S. citizenship is required to maintain a secret clearance.

       

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.

       

Compensation Details:

$35.00 - 40.00
