3 months contract with a Local Authority

Job Purpose

  • To provide a high-quality maintenance, inspection, repair,and testing service for HGVs, specialist vehicles, light commercial vehicles,plant equipment, and electric or hybrid vehicles. The role ensures the Councilfleet remains fully operational, compliant with DVSA regulations, operatorlicence requirements, health and safety standards, and internal policies.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out maintenance, servicing, inspection, repair, andtesting of HGVs, light commercial vehicles, specialist fleet vehicles, andplant equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, andelectrical faults efficiently.
  • Prepare and present HGV vehicles for MOT inspections andensure compliance with DVSA standards.
  • Complete periodic safety inspections in line with legal andoperational requirements.
  • Carry out welding, fabrication, and body repairs whenrequired.
  • Attend vehicle breakdowns and perform emergency repairswhere necessary.
  • Maintain and repair electric and hybrid vehicles.

Experience

  • Experience servicing, maintaining, and repairing HGVs andcommercial vehicles.
  • Experience diagnosing faults on hydraulic, pneumatic, andelectrical systems

Qualifications

  • City & Guilds Level 3 in Heavy Motor Vehicle Engineeringor equivalent qualification.
  • Full UK Driving Licence with Category C entitlement.
  • Qualified to DVSA standards for HGV inspections and testing.

Additional Information

  • 37 Hours per week.
  •  Driving licenserequired.
