About Family Bridges

Founded in 1968, Family Bridges is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals, families, and seniors to achieve wellness, stability, and independence through culturally competent care. Guided by our vision of building healthy, prosperous communities with dignity, we are driven by the values of compassion, respect, collaboration, and cultural understanding as we deliver high-quality services that create lasting impact.

Position Summary

Reporting directly to the CFO and serving all Family Bridges programs, the Grants & Funding Strategy Manager independently evaluates institutional and government funding opportunities; leads or coordinates competitive applications; and manages grant performance, reporting, compliance and funder relationships. This Finance position is distinct from donor cultivation and philanthropic development. The manager exercises independent judgment in assessing eligibility, financial exposure, contract conditions and funding strategy, and advises executive leadership on material funding decisions. The role does not supervise employees; it may coordinate student interns or project contributors as needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Independently research, screen and prioritize government, foundation and institutional funding opportunities for all Family Bridges programs; advise the CFO on alignment, financial viability, risk and pursuit strategy.
  • Lead or support grant applications, RFP responses, renewals and funding proposals; coordinate narratives, program outcomes, budgets, work plans and submissions with program leaders and Finance.
  • Serve as primary liaison and point of contact for assigned funders; lead substantive discussions on funding requirements, performance, reports, amendments and corrective actions within delegated authority.
  • Evaluate grant agreements, reimbursement methods, cost-sharing, restrictions and compliance obligations; recommend acceptance terms, risk mitigation and operational changes to the CFO.
  • Develop and oversee grant-reporting calendars, deliverables, performance measures, evaluation plans and closeout procedures; prepare and quality-check funder reports.
  • Analyze grant budgets, spending, reimbursement, receivables and program results with Finance; investigate variances and recommend corrective actions and strategic funding changes.
  • Develop grant dashboards, funding forecasts and executive recommendations; maintain complete records for monitoring, audits and contract reviews.
  • Coordinate specialized assignments or student interns as needed without direct staff supervision; safeguard client and organizational data.
  • Perform other duties related to grant strategy and compliance as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, public administration, nonprofit management, business, public policy or related field, or equivalent education and relevant experience.
  • At least three years of substantial grant development, funding analysis, reporting and administration experience, including complex funding submissions.
  • Demonstrated independent judgment in analyzing material funding risks, contracts, budgets, strategy and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent proposal writing, quantitative analysis, funder communication, project management and cross-functional coordination skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines across multiple funding sources.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Finance, program leaders, funders, and external auditors.
  • Proficiency with Office applications, grant-management systems and financial or contract reporting systems.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Public-sector grants and contracts, Uniform Guidance, nonprofit cost allocation, performance evaluation and reimbursement-based funding experience.
  • Experience managing government grants and contracts at the federal, state, county, or city level.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit fund accounting, cost allocation, audit preparation, and applicable Uniform Guidance requirements.
  • Demonstrated success in developing grant proposals and overseeing reports, renewals, budget modifications, reimbursement requests, and other funder submissions.
  • Experience briefing senior leadership on funding strategy, resource commitments, financial risk and corrective action.
