Role

The Electromechanical Technician – Decon Field Service is responsible for building, testing, and troubleshooting serial-production electronic and electromechanical assemblies — such as cameras, actuators, control boxes, cables, and robotic tools — in a low-to-medium-volume production environment, and for deploying to customer sites to operate, maintain, and support the company's robotic decontamination (decon) field services. The role spans both in-house assembly and hands-on field service, including work at nuclear facilities.

Responsibilities

Production & Assembly (Internal)

            Build production electronic and electromechanical assemblies per work instructions and specifications, in a low-to-medium-volume production environment.

            Perform hand-soldering operations per our standards.

            Measure, mix, and apply polymeric chemical adhesives and two-part compounds to assemblies.

            Label parts and components with identifying information.

            Inspect completed assemblies and sub-assemblies per acceptance criteria.

            Perform electrical acceptance testing per procedures.

            Maintain and complete manufacturing documentation for traceability and issues.

Field Service & Decon Operations

            Operate, maintain, configure, troubleshoot, repair, and mobilize/demobilize robotic tools and equipment in the field.

            Travel to customers to troubleshoot and repair our product, including decontamination field jobs.

            Interface with customer representatives, 3rd party reps, and end users requiring technical assistance.

            Ensure compliance to project and delivery schedules while on site.

            Complete trip reports, expense reports, and other associated paperwork covering activities in the field.

            Perform technical product training to customers and distributors.

General

            Solicit and relay customer feedback for the purposes of improving quality and scope of company products and services; provide technical product suggestions for new features to the R&D team.

            Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base on technical details of company service offerings and tools.

            Protect the organization's value by maintaining strict discretion and confidentiality.

            Ensure customer satisfaction.

            Perform other activities as directed.



Requirements

Requirements

The qualified candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

            Significant hands-on experience working with electrical and mechanical devices and tools; 3 years of work experience in a manufacturing/assembly role is highly desirable.

            Having a DPC 610 soldering certificate, or similar, and/or 3 years of hands-on experience with performing manual soldering operations, is highly desirable.

            Must be able to read and understand assembly and engineering drawings and blueprints.

            Must be able to prepare and apply chemicals such as paints and two-part compounds.


            Must have experience working with electrical test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.

            Must have strong computer skills, including the ability to use MS Office applications.

            Must be able to work within a project environment, and with production and delivery schedules; prior experience within a 5S or lean production environment is highly desirable.

            Must have excellent communication skills, and be able to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.

            Must be discreet, energetic, self-starting, self-managed, highly ethical, and have impeccable attention-to- detail and time-management skills, with a strong work ethic.

            Must be a team player with personality traits that enable successful interactions with all levels of staff, vendors, and customers.

            Must have a valid driver's license, with a good driving record (occasional driving with a company vehicle may be required); must have a passport.

            Travel Percentage: 20–25%, some of which may be international.

            Must be able to pass a criminal background check and quarterly drug screenings.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to:

            Climb ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level, and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolds, and structures.

            Stand, sit, walk, push, pull, bend, kneel, crouch/squat, and crawl; reach in all directions.

            Handle and manipulate objects, materials, and tools; coordinate the movement of eyes, hands, and fingers to operate tools and equipment.

            Lift 50 lbs. from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead, and carry objects, tools, and equipment; regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.

            See with or without correction including close-up and distance focusing, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception — and pass a visual capability test.

            Hear with or without correction; apply basic mathematical skills; and follow oral and/or written directions, plans, and blueprints.

            Perform all job functions while using/wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and recognize and report safety hazards.
