About This Role
Whether you’re a Level 4 apprentice with real industrial hours who’s ready for more responsibility, or a licensed Journeyman looking for a team that takes the craft seriously, this is the role for you. You’ll lead electrical work on industrial job sites: managing installations, directing crew members, upholding code and safety standards, and representing the Serve Electric standard on every project. This is a field position.
Florida licenses at the county level, so no matter where in the state you’ve been working, we want to hear from you. If you thrive in different industrial environments and bring the technical depth to hit the ground running, this is built for you.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Directing and managing electrical work on industrial job sites
- Inspecting installations to ensure quality and code compliance
- Upholding and enforcing job site safety standards (PPE, OSHA, NEC)
- Troubleshooting complex electrical issues from start to finish, often without schematics or full operator information
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, rough sketches, plans, drawings, and specifications
- Wiring 120V, 480V, and low voltage systems
- Working with lighting, transformers, motor controls, and switchboards
- Measuring, threading, bending, and running EMT and rigid conduit (½" – 4")
- Sizing feeders and managing tooling requirements for each job
- Mentoring and training apprentices and newer electricians
- Organizing and planning projects of varying scale
- Attending job site meetings and contributing to project coordination
- Communicating clearly with customers, managers, and the team
What You Need to Bring
Industrial experience is strongly preferred for this role. While residential and commercial electrical experience can provide a foundation, it does not fully translate to the demands of this position. We are seeking electricians with proven industrial experience, specifically in troubleshooting, large conduit and wire pulls, motor controls, 480V systems, transformers, and working within industrial environments, who can contribute effectively from day one.
Qualifications (one of the following):
- Active Florida county-issued Journeyman Electrician license (any county accepted), or
- Level 4 Apprentice standing with 6,000+ documented on-the-job hours, and a clear, demonstrated goal of earning your Journeyman card
Also required:
- Demonstrated hands-on industrial electrical experience (verifiable, not just listed as a skill)
- Ability to troubleshoot from start to finish without relying on schematics or complete customer information
- Proficiency with 120V, 480V, and low voltage systems
- Working knowledge of motor controls, transformers, lighting, and switchboards
- Experience with feeder sizing requirements
- Ability to measure, thread, bend, and run EMT and rigid conduit up to 4"
- Strong working knowledge of NEC code
- Ability to interpret blueprints, plans, drawings, and rough sketches
- Comfortable working with minimal supervision and managing priorities across multiple tasks
- Capable of training and mentoring less experienced electricians
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and ERP systems
- Willing and able to travel to job sites
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license
Nice to have:
- Experience running projects independently, large or small
- NFPA 70E / electrical safety compliance familiarity
- Prior experience working for an industrial electrical contractor
