Job Summary: Assists with the provision of rehabilitation services to patients under the direct supervision of a Supervising Physical Therapist designated by the client facility, in accordance with state regulations. May function in a variety of settings including, but not limited to skilled nursing facilities, outpatient treatment centers, and home care settings.Â
Primary Job Responsibilities:Â
- Assists therapists as directed to prepare patients for assessments and treatments.
- Assists with the placement and removal of appliances and splints as directed by the Supervising Therapist.Â
- Assists the Supervising Therapist to conduct both individual and group treatment as outlined in treatment plan in the areas of ADL, functional mobility, ROM, strength, coordination, cognitive/perceptual remediation and functional maintenance.Â
- Maintains department equipment by cleaning, disinfecting, maintaining orderly condition and reporting defective equipment.Â
- Facilitates the smooth functioning of the department to which assigned by performing administrative tasks and clerical duties such as scheduling patients, obtaining and monitoring authorizations, and answering phone calls.Â
- Maintains inventory of department equipment and supplies.Â
- Participates in patient, family and staff education.Â
- Confers formally and informally with other team members in coordinating the total rehabilitation program of the patient.Â
- Responsible for reporting on the condition of patient/client to the appropriate supervisor and other staff members. Coordinate and assist with care as directed.Â
- Documents and maintains patient records that reflect patient treatment: (Evaluation, daily treatment record, telephone orders, billing).
