Quality Control Inspector

Job Title: Quality Control

Job Summary: 

The QC is responsible and accountable for supporting the Alliance Steel Quality & Safety principles through monitoring and inspecting all products during the manufacturing cycle and prior to leaving the plant for delivery.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• · Read and interpret shop prints for your area
• · Inspect the pieces in your area
• · Engage with the Welder/Fitter or Operator/Associate about issues and how to fix
• · Answer questions about code or policy/procedure (Tolerances)
• · Fill out applicable documents (Examples: NCRs, Manifest, Safety Observation Cards, etc.) 100% and promptly
• · Adheres to company policy
• · Adheres to attendance policy
• · Follows safety criteria for assigned areas 
• · Any other duties assigned

Required Skills/Abilities: 

• · Minimum of 2 years’ welding experience (CWI is not required)
• · Be able to read a tape measure to 1/16th inch quickly & accurately
• · Understanding or the overall operation of the entire plant
• · Read and understand prints at a high level of expertise
• · Ability to coordinate your efforts with the Shop Supervisors to avoid work delays
• · Must be proficient with inspection tools
• · Excellent written and verbal skills
• · Excellent problem-solving skills
• · Perform other duties as assigned 

Preferences:

• · Experience with AWS D1.1
• · Previous weld inspection 

Physical Requirements: 

• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 75 pounds regularly 
• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
• Ability to safely operate and work around heavy machinery and move materials
