Position Overview:  

Devon’s Geosciences Internship provides students with the opportunity to learn and apply geoscience principles in a professional environment. Students participate in both team and individual assignments, gaining exposure to real-world tasks and projects, as well as apply the latest principles of geology and geophysics to the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons in North America. This program is designed to help students develop technical and professional skills while exploring potential career opportunities at Devon. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Perform duties typically assigned to an entry-level geosciences petro-technical professional within Devon’s Business Units. 

  • Assist geologists and geophysicists in evaluating prospective oil and gas trends, identifying new drilling prospects, and supporting projects within existing fields. 

  • Participate in a variety of on-the-job assignments, applying and expanding technical skills acquired in college to support both technical and professional development. 

 

Technical Exposure: 

  • Further develop technical skills gained in college through real-world geoscience projects. 

  • Collaborate directly with geoscience professionals on core evaluation, well log interpretation, and mapping data sets. 

  • Demonstrate advanced computer proficiency, including optimizing and automating processes. 

  • Exhibit curiosity and eagerness to explore AI, data, and technology, with opportunities to engage with emerging digital tools and innovations. 

 

Education 

  • Full-time student pursuing a Geoscience degree.  

  • College level: Master’s student  

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.
