Estimator (Mechanical/Plumbing)

Position Summary

FOKIS Mechanical is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical & Plumbing Estimator to join our growing team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for commercial mechanical and plumbing construction projects across healthcare, education, institutional, and commercial markets.

The ideal candidate understands HVAC,  plumbing and medical gas systems, can interpret construction documents, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This position plays a critical role in helping secure new work and supporting the continued growth of the company.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems
• Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents
• Perform quantity takeoffs using estimating software and digital plans
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing
• Develop budgets, estimates, and competitive bid proposals
• Identify scope gaps, value engineering opportunities, and project risks
• Attend pre-bid meetings, walkthroughs, and internal turnover meetings
• Maintain organized bid files and estimating databases
• Assist with project handoff to operations after award

Qualifications

• Experience estimating mechanical and/or plumbing construction projects
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, piping, and construction methods
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules
• Experience with estimating software such as AutoBid or similar platforms preferred
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other standard office software
• Self-motivated with strong attention to detail

Preferred Experience

• Commercial mechanical/plumbing construction estimating
• Healthcare, institutional and/or commercial project experience
• Experience working with general contractors, subcontractors, and engineers
