Cleaning Academy Instructor (Independent Contractor)

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Omaha — Microbusiness

Location: Omaha, NE (classes held at CCO facilities)

Type: Independent Contractor (1099) — part-time, as-needed by cohort

About the Role

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Omaha (CCO) is seeking an independent contractor to become a certified ISSA CMI Certified Professional Trainer (CPT) and lead our Cleaning Academy — a workforce-development program that trains CCO clients for careers in the commercial cleaning and custodial industry.

This is a two-phase opportunity: first, CCO fully sponsors your CPT certification through ISSA's Cleaning Management Institute; then you step into the instructor role, teaching Cleaning Academy cohorts to CCO clients.

What CCO Provides

  • Full certification sponsorship: CCO covers your enrollment/registration fees for the ISSA CMI Train the Trainer (CPT) Workshop, up to $1,000.
  • Paid training time: $35/hour for time spent attending the workshop, up to 20 hours (covers the 16 scheduled workshop hours plus exam prep).
  • Instructional pay: $35/hour for approved instructional hours once certified, invoiced monthly and paid within 15 days.
  • Program materials covered by CCO: student workbooks, student certification exam fees, consumable classroom supplies, and non-consumable demonstration equipment (floor machines, vacuums, carts, etc.).
  • Recertification support: if you're actively teaching for CCO when your 2-year CPT certification is due for renewal, CCO covers the recertification exam fee.
  • What You'll Do

    • Facilitate CCO's Cleaning Academy curriculum for assigned client cohorts
    • Communicate regularly with CCO's Microbusiness team and leadership on class progress and student updates
    • Help refine curriculum, materials, and assessments as needed
    • Collaborate on grant-related reporting tied to the program
    • Work with CCO to plan the schedule and hours for each cohort
  • What We're Looking For

    • Willingness and ability to complete the ISSA CMI Train the Trainer (CPT) Workshop (four days, virtual, October 6–7 and 13–14, 2026, 12:00–4:00 PM ET) and pass the CPT certification exam within ISSA's 60-day window
    • Background in commercial cleaning, custodial, or facility services strongly preferred
    • Comfort teaching adults, including bilingual (English/Spanish) audiences a plus
    • Reliable, professional communication and the flexibility to commit to a published class schedule
    • Available to teach at CCO facilities in Omaha
  • Good to Know Before You Apply

This role is structured as an independent contractor engagement, not employment — no taxes are withheld and no employee benefits apply. Because CCO is making a significant upfront investment in your certification, the contract includes standard training-investment terms: if you don't complete certification, or if you stop teaching for CCO within the first 12 months, a prorated portion of the certification cost is repayable (full details are in the contractor agreement provided to finalists). CCO commits to scheduling cohorts with reasonable regularity in return.
