Â General Summary Majors Plastics expects its Tooling Engineers to oversee the technical development, construction and implementation of custom injection molds and secondary machinery for new and existing customer product lines. Essential Job Functions 1. Collaborate with customer design groups in early development stages by providing technical direction of molding issues. 2. Interact with outside tooling vendors to provide detailed quotation packages to customers. 3. Coordinate the development of new production tooling by providing technical requirements to the toolmaker, specific to each tool. 4. Document the process of each project by providing weekly progress reports to the customer. 5. Control the transfer of part data between the customer and the toolmaker. 6. Control the transfer of part inspection prints and Boms between the customer and Majors. 7. Interact with customers at a technical level, as required. 8. Coordinate initial mold tryouts and troubleshoot, as needed. 9. Coordinate preliminary test runs and collaborate with customer and toolmaker, for any pre-production changes needed. 10. Re-visit project, in full production, when changes are requested by the customer. 11. Maintain high scores on internal engineering surveys. 12. Evaluate 2-D part drawings for proposed quality specifications and requirements; work with Q.A. to resolve any potential issues. QualificationsKnowledge / Skills / Abilities 1. Extensive knowledge of plastic injection mold design and construction. 2. Good communication and graphical documentation skills. 3. Experience with 3-D data transfers, reading and interpreting 3-D part files and blueprints. 4. General knowledge of office equipment such as copier, fax, and computer knowledge with experience in Microsoft products desired.
