JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The UBMS Tutor - Math assists high school students in gaining a better understanding of math area course content and helps develop learning skills to enhance the students’ academic experience.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist students with understanding assignments and concepts in a specialized subject area.
  • Assist students with academic applications of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Assist students with navigating MCC systems and software.
  • Assist with other general UBMS Tutoring tasks as assigned.
  • Attend work activities or programs as scheduled or assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of subject matter to be tutored.
  • Ability to explain complex subject matter with patience and attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new software.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other college supported systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, including active listening.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate cooperation and professionalism in stressful situations.
  • Ability to work and interact effectively with various cultures and ethnicities.

Associate’s degree in progress or completed and overall cumulative GPA of 3.25 or better and received a “B” or better in math.

Must pass a background check.
