JOB SUMMARY:Ā
Assist with the planning and implementation for Skilled Nursing Facility residentsā activities. Help design programs to encourage socialization, provide entertainment, relaxation and fulfillment. Strong organization and time management skills. Ā Coordinating therapeutic, educational, religious and recreational activities appropriate to the needs and interests of the residents. Works in close supervision of the Activities Director.Ā
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

§ Demonstrates the ability to work as a team member. Must work closely with other members of the facility.
§ Assists in planning, developing, organizing, evaluating and directing the activity program.
§ Coordinates, directs, and/or conducts planned activities. Demonstrates flexibility by willing to change an ongoing activity based on resident interest and participation. Supervises multiple activities going on for smaller groups in an area.
§ Communicates any changes in the residentās physical or mental state that may impact interaction with other residents or employees.
§ Assists residents with mobility issues as required for the activity.
§ Protects the residentās privacy and their property.
§ Attends staff meetings as directed.
§ Assists residents with the voting process by helping them register and assisting them with absentee ballots.
§ Assists residents in attending religious services.
§ Coordinates and supervises āoutdoor activities.ā
§ Assists with volunteer orientation and encourages participation in activities.Ā
§ Attends or conducts appropriate in-service sessions within the facility as directed by the Activity Director or Administrator.Ā
§ Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES:
§ Must have a current certification in the State of Florida as a CNA;
§ High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
§ Must have strong interpersonal communication skills.
§ Must have good understanding of the social, psychological and special needs of the aged.
§ Ability to read, write and speak the English language in an understandable manner and to be able to carefully follow written and oral instructions.
§ Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently throughout the workday.
§ Maintain good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
§ Ability to manage and cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position accordingly.
§ Work closely with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset people.
§ Assume the responsibility for maintaining professional competence through participation in programs, seminars, and/or training.Ā
§ Willing to work beyond the normal working hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
§ Ability to handle department equipment according to standard procedures.
§ Ability to work effectively with residents, staff, and visitors with flexibility, personal integrity, sensitivity, and discretion at all times.Ā
§ Reports all accidents and incidents to supervisor no matter how minor they may be.
§ Attends and participates in in-service classes, on-the-job programs, etc. as scheduled and directed.
§ Honor the Residentsā Rights polices at all times.
§ Maintains and protect the privacy and confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) per the companyās HIPAA medical privacy policy.Ā
§ Be expected (and required) to perform any task in a safe, sanitary and efficient manner in accordance with established procedures.
§ Follows facility safety program.
§ Assumes accountability for data contained in the Employee Handbook.
§ Any exposure to blood or body fluids that contain visible blood must be reported to supervisor on the shift in which the incident occurs.Ā
§ Be familiar with universal precautions (i.e. frequent hand washing, using gloves, etc.).
§ Understand that this position contains Category II tasks that may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.Ā
§ Ability to understand and use universal precautions and appropriate protective measures, which are readily available to every employee, engaged in Category I tasks.
§ Ability to perform all functions of the job classification without posing a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
