Role Overview

The Winder, Field Services supports the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of turbine generator equipment, with a primary focus on winding, rewinding, and insulation activities for rotor and stator components. This role contributes to safe, high‑quality generator service operations by assisting with electrical testing, visual inspections, and mechanical and electrical repair work in accordance with Mitsubishi Power Americas procedures. The position requires hands-on technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in both field and shop environments. Domestic and international travel is required based on project and contractual needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates Mitsubishi Power’s core competencies: action-oriented mindset, change champion, customer focus, ownership, and continuous self-development
  • Support electrical testing of equipment in accordance with Mitsubishi Power Americas procedures, including Megger, Digital Low Resistance Ohmmeter, AC and DC hi-potential testing, robotic equipment, Tan Delta, EL CID, bump testing, and power factor testing
  • Support visual and dimensional inspections of generator components and electrical equipment
  • Perform winding and rewinding activities, including taping, blocking, and banding
  • Support rotor and stator rewind activities
  • Assist with the removal and replacement of rotor and stator wedges and insulating materials
  • Perform brazing and unbrazing of electrical connectors using torch, resistance, and induction methods
  • Troubleshoot and repair basic mechanical and electrical issues
  • Support inspections and repairs of stator cores, retaining rings, high‑voltage bushings, main leads, radial leads, exciters, collectors, coolers, and related components
  • Support the opening, inspection, and closing of electrical equipment and auxiliary systems
  • Work with electrical, pneumatic, and manual hand tools, as well as mechanical and electrical measuring equipment
  • Work regularly with materials such as epoxy resins, paints, and putties while performing maintenance and repair activities
  • Follow all safety, quality, and material control procedures during work execution
  • Maintain responsibility for the tool kit assigned at the time of hire
  • Travel overnight, both domestically and internationally, as required to meet contractual obligations
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of generator service operations

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least one (1) year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow technical instructions, correspondence, and procedures
  • Ability to perform job‑related calculations and measurements
  • Basic computer skills, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and technical drawings
  • Ability to make sound judgment decisions based on material specifications and technical requirements
  • Valid driver’s license and passport, maintained in good standing
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required
