Job Summary:
The Development Coordinator is responsible for supporting and advancing the hospital's fundraising, donor engagement, and community relations efforts. This position manages the donor database, coordinates donor stewardship activities, assists with the planning and execution of fundraising events, and develops strategies to cultivate and strengthen relationships with donors, community partners, and stakeholders. Working closely with the Marketing Manager and reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Development Coordinator plays a key role in supporting philanthropic initiatives that further the hospital's mission and strategic goals.
Responsibilities include:
Donor Relations and Stewardship
- Develop and implement donor outreach and engagement strategies to cultivate, retain, and grow donor relationships.
- Coordinate donor recognition and stewardship activities, including acknowledgments, communications, and appreciation events.
- Assist in identifying prospective donors and opportunities for philanthropic support.
- Maintain regular communication with donors, community partners, and stakeholders to strengthen engagement and support.
Donor Database Management
- Manage and maintain the donor database, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of donor records.
- Record and track gifts, pledges, grants, sponsorships, and donor interactions.
- Generate reports, donor lists, and analytics to support fundraising initiatives and organizational decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with donor privacy standards and organizational policies.
Fundraising and Event Coordination
- Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to plan, organize, and execute fundraising events and community engagement activities.
- Assist with event logistics, sponsorship solicitation, volunteer coordination, donor communications, and post-event evaluations.
- Support fundraising campaigns and special initiatives through donor outreach, event promotion, and administrative coordination.
- Monitor event budgets, timelines, and deliverables to ensure successful outcomes.
Community Engagement
- Represent the hospital at community events, meetings, and networking opportunities.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with community organizations, businesses, civic groups, and volunteers.
- Promote awareness of the hospital's mission, programs, and fundraising priorities within the community.
Administrative Support
- Prepare correspondence, reports, presentations, and fundraising materials.
- Maintain organized records related to development activities and donor engagement.
- Support strategic development initiatives as assigned by the CEO.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of fundraising principles, donor stewardship, and nonprofit development practices.
- Knowledge of donor database management systems and data reporting.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality regarding donor and organizational information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management software.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Physical Requirements for the Role:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workday.
- Ability to use a computer, telephone, and standard office equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry materials and event supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to travel locally and attend community events, including occasional evening or weekend activities.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Communication, Marketing, Public Relations, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Experience in fundraising, development, donor relations, event planning, community relations, marketing, or a related field.
- Experience managing databases and maintaining accurate records.
Preferred:
- Experience working in a healthcare, hospital, nonprofit, or foundation setting.
- Experience with donor management software and fundraising reporting.
- Knowledge of grant support and sponsorship development.
Work Environment:
- Primarily works in a professional office environment within a healthcare setting.
- Regular interaction with donors, community members, hospital leadership, staff, volunteers, and external partners.
- Occasional travel within the service area for meetings, events, and community outreach activities.
