About the role

Haynes Group is a Connecticut family of companies in quarry and aggregates, construction and real estate development, and property management. We are looking for an organized, detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to support our accounting team with day-to-day processing and administrative work. This is a great starting point for someone who wants to build a career in accounting. We will train the right person.

What you will do

Scan, enter and file vendor invoices and route them for approval
Follow up with vendors and staff on missing invoices and approvals
Assist in collecting, saving and file vendor paperwork: W-9s, insurance certificates and lien waivers
Open, sort and log incoming mail and checks
Assist with collecting credit card receipt backup and billbacks
Help with property management paperwork: utility bills and tenant notices
Prepare checks for mailing and download month-end bank statements
Assist accounting department with various needs along with Ad-hoc assignments
Filing, scanning and other projects as assigned

What we are looking for

High school diploma required; associate degree or coursework in accounting or business a plus
0–2 years of office, bookkeeping or data-entry experience (internships count)
Comfortable with Excel and learning new software
Accurate, organized and able to manage a steady volume of work
Friendly, professional phone and email manner
Able to handle confidential information with discretion
