Purpose
Launchedin 2019, CEEW-Green Finance Centre (CEEW-GFC) aims to facilitate mobilisationof the vast amount of capital needed for the green economy. Under this broadmandate, its work spans renewable energy, mobility, industrial decarbonisation,climate adaptation, nature, instruments and regulations as well as crosscutting levers such as carbon markets, disclosures and taxonomies. The Centrehas a particular focus on designing financial solutions which will unlockfinance at scale.
To support its work, particularly around corporate sustainability disclosures,CEEW-GFC seeks to hire a Research Intern. The intern will support dataassembly, quality checks and analysis of company filings, and the synthesis offindings into policy-facing outputs.
Atthe same time, the intern will have opportunities to contribute to other researchareas within the Centre, including sustainable finance instruments, transitionfinance for hard-to-abate sectors, and international climate finance andtransparency, depending on team needs and the candidate's interests.
Primary Responsibilities
Theintern will support allocated workstreams for quantitative and qualitativeresearch on corporate disclosures and sustainable finance.
• Conductingsystematic data quality checks on datasets for corporate disclosures:identifying anomalies, unit and scaling errors, internal inconsistencies withina filing, and implausible year-on-year movements; maintaining clear issue logswith traceable references back to source filings.
• Supportingqualitative analysis of disclosure text, including assessment of disclosurequality, and assessment of specificity, verifiability and forward-lookingcontent in company narratives.
• Supportingquantitative analysis using Excel and tools such as R or STATA: descriptivestatistics, sectoral and peer-group comparisons, intensity metrics, datavisualisation, and basic statistical analysis where relevant.
• Contributingto other workstreams within CEEW-GFC based on project needs and the candidate'sinterests.
Selection Criteria Qualification
• Preferablya Master’s degree with a specialisation in finance, economics, or a relatedfield.
• Familiaritywith sustainability disclosure or ESG frameworks, sustainable finance, corporategovernance, or climate policy.
Work experience
• 0-1 years ofexperience. Candidates pursuing their Master’s can apply.
Key skills
• Workingknowledge of Excel is essential, including the ability to work confidently withlarge datasets, lookups, pivot tables, trackers and summary tables.
• Strongquantitative orientation, including familiarity with data cleaning, datastructuring and basic statistical methods. Familiarity with Python, R, STATA orsimilar data analysis tools preferred.
• Strongwritten and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesiseevidence and communicate findings clearly.
• Willingnessto learn new skills.

Compensation
Competitivecompensation – commensurate to the experience and matching the best ofstandards adopted by industry or other similar organisations for similar roles.
