Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will monitor the student's blood glucose levels and dietary intake so they can stay healthy, safe and ready to learn. This position is located in Paola Kansas, at the Lake Mary Center. Position Attendant Care Paraprofessional Employer ECKCE, Baldwin City, KS Work location Lake Mary Center, 100 Lake Mary Drive, Paola, KS 66071 Schedule 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, according to Lake Mary Center School Calendar Supervisor On-site Registered Nurse Status Full time, 35 hours per week Responsibilities Monitor the student's blood glucose levels at scheduled times and as needed, following the student's health care plan. Track and record dietary intake, including meals, snacks and carbohydrate counts. Recognize signs of high and low blood sugar and respond according to the nurse's written protocols. Report readings, concerns and changes in the student's condition promptly to the supervising Registered Nurse. Maintain accurate, confidential health records in line with FERPA and district policy. Communicate with teachers and staff so the student's health needs are met throughout the school day. Support the student's independence and dignity while providing care. Complete training and delegated tasks as assigned by the Registered Nurse. Perform other related duties as assigned.QualificationsRequired High school diploma or GED. Ability to follow written health care plans and nurse instructions precisely. Willingness to complete diabetes care training, including glucose monitoring. Strong attention to detail and dependable record keeping. Ability to stay calm and act quickly in a health situation. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude. Must be able to maintain confidentiality and adhere to school policies and safety procedures. Background check.Preferred Experience caring for children or individuals with diabetes or other health needs. Experience working in a school or special education setting.Pay and Benefits Pay: Level 3 starting at $15.25 per hour; if successful candidate is a CNA pay will be adjusted.
