DETC Clerk

The Dancing Eagle Travel Center Clerk is a non-exempt position responsible for delivering excellent customer service while ensuring the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the travel center. Key duties include greeting customers, taking and preparing food orders, maintaining beverage stations, operating a point-of-sale system and cash register, processing payments, balancing cash drawers, and assisting customers with merchandise and product inquiries. The clerk is responsible for stocking and rotating merchandise, promoting products and brands, selling lottery and tobacco products while verifying customer age, and maintaining health and safety standards. The role also requires building positive guest relationships through friendly, professional interactions, learning guest preferences, and providing prompt service. Employees are expected to uphold Laguna Development Corporation’s core values, maintain a positive attitude, work collaboratively as part of a team, assist with training new retail clerks, and develop knowledge of travel center services, amenities, promotions, and special events.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, applicants must be 18 years of age or older, and relevant retail, cashiering, and custodial experience is preferred. Clerks must be able to perform basic arithmetic calculations, use cash registers and basic computer systems proficiently, and operate equipment such as fryers and grills. Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, climbing, and repetitive hand use, along with the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Mental requirements include planning, organizing, decision-making, reading, and writing. The job is performed primarily indoors but involves exposure to fumes such as cigarette smoke and fuel. Additional requirements include passing a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and background investigation, obtaining and maintaining Serv-Safe Certification, and working flexible schedules that may include weekends, holidays, and unusual hours. The position has no supervisory responsibilities.
