POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Database Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day administration, capacity planning, performance optimization, incident resolution, and overall support of enterprise database systems in a 24/7 environment.
The role serves as a key escalation point for critical core gaming systems and database-related outages, providing technical support, monitoring, and troubleshooting across IT projects and business applications utilizing Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, DB2, and Microsoft SQL Server. The position ensures database environments are secure, highly available, resilient, and optimized to support reliable business operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up, administer, maintain, and monitor high-availability database environments.
- Work closely with Production Support teams in establishing test environments, reviewing test plans and test cases, and investigating technical issues.
- Perform capacity planning for database servers and related hardware resources.
- Ensure database and server incidents are resolved within established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Identify and implement process, technology, and system improvements.
- Collaborate with Network and Infrastructure teams to ensure compliance with enterprise security policies and standards.
- Develop, implement, and monitor database backup and recovery strategies.
- Manage database server patching and maintenance.
- Monitor system and database logs and perform root cause analysis (RCA) for errors, incidents, and performance issues.
- Provide technical support and escalation for critical database-related incidents and production outages.
