Learn-to-Skate Instructor, Part-Time (45093)

Job DetailsJob Location: Oakton Sports Complex - Park Ridge, IL 60068Salary Range: $16.00 - $20.00 Hourly Description:  Come work at the new state of the art facility and be part of the excitement. We are seeking skating instructors to teach classes for our Learn to Skate and/or Learn-to-Play-Hockey classes. Children will range in age from two to adult. Skill levels will range from first-time skaters to advanced curriculum levels. This position will be responsible for teaching the students how to skate/play, while following all rules and policies as set forth by the Park District and Director of Skating / Hockey Director. Responsibilities include maintaining a structured class for the appropriate age and level of all participants, safeguarding students, tracking attendance, evaluating for class advancement, and communicating with parents. Qualifications:  This position requires a background in skating and/or hockey and a comfort on the ice as it relates to skating and hockey-specific skills. Must have an approved coaching certification or be able to acquire it within 6 months of hire. Must be CPR/AED and first-aid certified or have the ability to become certified (through our district) within 90 days of employment. Individual must be at least 16 years of age. Must have a working knowledge of school age children’s developmental stages and behavioral techniques, as well as Oakton’s skating developmental techniques or the ability and willingness to learn.
