Works directly with children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and their families. The ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) Therapist implements behavior treatment plans developed by the BCBA team. Builds rapport with learners and works collaboratively with learners and their families on goals outlined in their treatment and behavior plans. Collects and maintains accurate data during individual and group sessions to monitor progress toward treatment goals.

Facilitates engaging in therapeutic and recreational group activities, including leading the Binder Autism Center's art program. Plans and implements creative art-based activities that promote social interaction, communication, emotional expression, fine motor development, and independence while adapting activities to meet the individual needs and abilities of participants.

Attends Binder Autism Center program events throughout the year, including holiday parties, bowling outings, field trips, and other special events. Works evenings on a regular basis and weekends if necessary.

Qualifications

Work requires knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Behavior Analysis, Art Therapy, Creative Arts Therapy, Education, or a closely related field, with two to three years of experience working with children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.

Experience planning and leading therapeutic or educational art activities for children with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder is strongly preferred. Candidates should be creative, organized, and comfortable adapting art activities to accommodate a variety of developmental and behavioral needs.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of an FBI criminal background check and fingerprinting, with re-screening required every two years in accordance with DHS and DCF regulations.
