Position Summary:

The Food Service Attendant supports the daily operations of the cafeteria by providing courteous customer service, accurately processing transactions, maintaining clean and sanitary dining and service areas, and ensuring supplies remain adequately stocked. This position contributes to a welcoming and organized dining environment while supporting efficient food service operations and compliance with established safety and sanitation standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Greet customers and provide friendly, courteous, and professional customer service.
Operate the cash register or point-of-sale system to process customer purchases and payments accurately.
Handle cash, credit/debit transactions, and provide accurate change when applicable.
Assist customers with questions regarding cafeteria items and services.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining room tables, chairs, counters, and surrounding areas.
Clear and clean tables promptly to ensure the dining area remains presentable and ready for customers.
Sweep floors and assist with general cleaning of cafeteria and dining areas.
Stock and replenish condiments, napkins, utensils, cups, plates, paper products, and other cafeteria supplies.
Monitor supply levels and notify the supervisor when items need to be reordered or replenished.
Assist with maintaining cleanliness of service areas and customer-accessible spaces.
Follow established food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures.
Properly handle and dispose of trash and assist with maintaining clean waste disposal areas.
Assist with receiving, organizing, and putting away cafeteria supplies as needed.
Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall operation of the cafeteria.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous customer service, cashier, cafeteria, or food service experience preferred.
Basic math skills and the ability to accurately handle cash transactions.
Ability to communicate effectively and interact professionally with customers and coworkers.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Dependable, organized, and attentive to cleanliness and detail.
Ability to follow instructions and maintain established sanitation standards.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a cafeteria or food service setting. The position may involve frequent customer interaction, standing for extended periods, exposure to varying temperatures, and working around food service equipment and cleaning supplies.
