Job DetailsJob Location: Corporate Office - Philadelphia, PA 19102The Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB) is the official tourism promotion agency for the City of Philadelphia globally and the primary sales and marketing agency for the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The PHLCVB creates positive economic impact across the Philadelphia region, driving job growth, and promoting the health and vibrancy of our hospitality industry by marketing the destination and the Pennsylvania Convention Center and attracting international visitors. Position Description The PHLCVB is seeking a motivated, self-starter to support its communications and public relations efforts. This paid internship provides opportunities to build writing and editing skills in both corporate communications and media relations and will support the organization’s day-to-day PR operations. The position is in-person only, 16 hours per week and will require the communications intern to work both independently and within the larger team to fulfill department goals. Duties and responsibilities include: Monitor and track local and international press coverage to assist communications managers with internal reports Support content development and editing on recurring internal and external newsletters Proofread internal and external content as needed Draft press releases, media alerts, or other media relations documents Research award and speaking opportunities and draft entries and submissions Other projects as assigned Goals, Objectives, and Performance Guidelines Upon completion of this internship, student will: Gain hands-on experience in corporate communications and public relations Gather experience in the tourism and hospitality industry Hone writing and editing skills Build portfolio with writing samples QualificationsQualifications: Currently enrolled as a junior or senior in a four-year college or university. Seeking a degree in communications or public relations is preferred, but not required Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Strong written and oral communication skills Experience writing and editing copy Ability to both work well within a team and independently on projects Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines Ability to take direction, multitask, and follow through on projects Interest in, knowledge of, and passion for Philadelphia
