Course: Lighting and Visual Design for Modern Media Productions

This course explores the creative and technical principles of lighting, staging, and visual projection for live events, theatre, and media productions. Students gain hands-on experience with lighting control systems, moving light programming both with hardware units as well as software control, and digital image projections.

  • Facilitate classroom lecture and discussions while incorporating innovative teaching strategies.
  • Engage students in cutting-edge technologies and industry trends.
  • Assess student performance and mentor classroom success to prepare them for their chosen career path.
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

What You Will Bring:

  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree in production design, lighting for film or theatre, or a related content area with an emphasis in live events and broadcast medium AND
    • 3 years of professional experience working in lighting and/or stage production.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in a related area;
  • 3 years of college teaching experience, experience in several lighting programming languages, VectorWorks proficiency.
