UPMC Presbyterian is seeking a Diagnostic Tech Multi-Skill to join our exceptional radiology team! If you’re ready to sharpen your skills, expand into advanced procedures, and thrive in a fast-paced academic medical center, this role is an exciting next step.

This position features a mix of daylight and evening shifts with a weekly combination of two 8-hour and two 12-hour shifts, plus every other weekend and select holidays. While most of your time will be spent in our main radiology department, you'll also spend about 15%25 of your schedule supporting the OR IR team during emergency procedures—a rare opportunity to gain highly specialized experience and broaden your clinical expertise.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform diagnostic radiography procedures independently using established protocols.
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, helping ease anxiety and ensure cooperation.
  • Properly code, track, and archive all exams through RIS and ISITE systems, ensuring accuracy and timely billing.
  • Use independent judgment to adjust protocols and apply ionizing radiation safely and appropriately.
  • Operate complex imaging equipment to acquire, analyze, and document high-quality image data.
  • Float between clinical areas as needed to support workflow and ensure consistent patient care across departments.
  • Maintain efficient workflow based on patient volumes and communicate regularly with supervisors.
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver fast, coordinated care with excellent customer service.
  • Administer oral and rectal contrast according to physician orders and department policy.
  • Review patient history, apply proper protocols, and document information accurately in the EMR.
  • Demonstrate initiative, a willingness to learn, and readiness to share knowledge with new hires and students.


  • Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • When rotating between two or more specialties, must hold registry in each specialty.
  • Must have obtained a performance review rating of strong/solid/good on most recent performance review to be eligible for promotion. 

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • ARRT certified in Radiography with a secondary Imaging Registry required.
  • Must maintain 2 imaging registries/certifications and maintain competency in all as required by hiring Business Unit.
    • NOTE: Diagnostic Tech's who rotate between Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology are required to have their primary registry in Radiology only and maintain competency in Interventional Radiology.
  • Must be willing and demonstrate flexibility to be assigned to any of the maintained registries by leadership.
  • Must provide flexibility to work least one off-shift (evening, nights or weekend), every 90 days as requested by imaging leadership. 
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

     

  • ARRT Certificate
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
