The Babaee Lab develops machine-learning algorithms for science and engineering applications. Our efforts focus on reduced-order modeling and probabilistic machine learning methods, which we deploy across domains such as materials science, aerodynamics, and bioengineering.

Required Educational Background: Applicant must have a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering,  computational science, applied mathematics, or a closely-related field. 

Required Skillset: For the research component of the position, the required skillset includes: Strong background in combustion, scientific machine learning, and computational science and technical publications. In addition to conducting research, your duties may also include preparing reports, performing literature reviews, supervising graduate and undergraduate students, and assisting with other projects in the laboratory. 

Other required skill sets include strong interest in basic and applied research. Good verbal and written communication skills; Ability to work both independently and within a team structure delivering project components on given time schedules; Ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities: The research-related responsibilities of this position will include: Computational/ML code method development; Code implementation; Mentoring graduate students; Writing journal publications, preparing reports that summarize the work conducted for progress reports to funding agencies; Planning, developing, and implementing technical and scientific research programs; Contributing to proposal writing and acquisition of preliminary data.
