Project Summary

The postdoctoral researcher will work closely with Dr. Sean Kelly (PI) on an NSF-funded project entitled, "Enhancing the future of teacher practice via AI-enabled formative feedback for job-embedded learning." The focus of this project is on studying classroom observation and feedback, teacher learning, and instructional change in real-world classrooms. The project is a joint collaboration between Dr. Kelly at the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Sidney D'Mello at the University of Colorado-Boulder, and researchers at TeachFX, the industry leader in technology-enabled instructional feedback.

Position Overview

The primary responsibility will include study management, working closely with districts, school-building leaders, and participating teachers. The post-doctoral researcher will recruit participants, help participants develop professional study and peer feedback plans, and manage data collection. Additional responsibilities will include administering surveys, conducting interviews, and analyzing all forms of data, from extensive archival teacher discourse data, to survey and interview data on teacher learning, to peer teacher collaboration outcomes.

Required Experience

§  Four or more years of full-time, K-12 classroom teaching experience

§  Research background in education or related fields

§  Scholarly productivity in the areas of teacher education, classroom observation, teacher professional development, or educational administration.

Required Education

§  PhD in the educational sciences or related field

 

Additional Preferred Qualifications

§  Experience in teacher professional development

§  Experience in district-level educational outreach

§  Experience in interview methodology

§  Experience in discourse analysis
