Are you passionate about improving patients’ sleep health? UPMC St. Margaret is seeking a dedicated Sleep Technologist to join our team. If you have a keen eye for detail and a commitment to exceptional patient care, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

  • Sleep Study Preparation: Review patient charts, and testing orders, and verify patient identification.
  • Sleep Study Set-Up: Apply electrodes and sensors per AASM guidelines and explain procedures to patients.
  • Sleep Study Procedure: Conduct in-center and out-of-center sleep studies, ensuring quality and exceptional patient care.
  • Analysis and Scoring: Analyze and score sleep studies.
  • Maintenance: Clean equipment and patient rooms, perform routine maintenance, and manage lab supplies.
  • Competency: Maintain scoring competency and meet monthly AASM ISR requirements.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, adhering to system-wide competencies and behaviors.


  • HS graduate and graduate from an education program in polysomnography accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
  • or the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) preferred with sleep credential from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (RPSGT), the National Board of Respiratory Care (CRT-SDS or RRT-SDS) or the American Board of Sleep Medicine (RST).

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
    BLS required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRTT) OR Registered Polysomnographic Technologist OR Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Act 34
