We are seeking a motivated Settlement Paralegal to join our Plano, TX-based team.


The Settlement Paralegal manages the post-suit resolution workflow for a high-volume creditors' rights practice. This role focuses on negotiating repayment terms, drafting settlement stipulations, and monitoring payment compliance for diverse institutional clients. The ideal candidate balances strong negotiation skills with rigorous financial tracking to resolve outstanding debts before or during litigation, maximizing client recovery while minimizing court intervention.


Job Responsibilities vary by department, but may include:

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft settlement agreements: Prepare settlement stipulations, payment plans, consent judgments, and release forms for opposing consumer counsel or pro se defendants.
  • Negotiate resolution terms: Communicate directly with opposing parties, debtors, and internal clients to establish approved payment arrangements and settlement parameters.
  • Track Document Status: Monitor for return of signed settlement agreements and Agreed judgments to ensure final resolution.
  • Manage default workflows: Review breached agreements and quickly process motions for judgment or execute default provisions when payments fail.
  • Review account balances: Reconcile final payoff amounts, interest calculations, and fee waivers with internal accounting and operations teams.
  • Process file closures: Draft dismissal documents, satisfy judgments, and electronically file closing paperwork with state, federal, and bankruptcy courts.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Experience: Minimum of 1 years of paralegal experience, with a strong focus on debt settlement, creditors’ rights, or financial services litigation.
  • Education: Associate degree, a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program, or commensurate work experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with electronic filing systems, account reconciliation tools, and firm case management software.
  • Core Competencies: Strong negotiation capability, exceptional attention to detail, clear written communication, and the ability to manage a high-volume resolution portfolio.
