Volunteer Companion - East Surrey

Could you spare a little time each week to brighten someone’s day?

Marie Curie is looking for caring, local volunteers to visit people in their homes or community settings during the last year of life. It’s about simple things that make a big difference - having a chat, offering companionship, and being there when it matters most.

Using Marie Curie training, local knowledge, and community networks, you’ll provide tailored support by:

What you’ll do 

• Visit someone once a week for a friendly chat
• Listen and offer emotional support
• Share helpful information if needed
• Be a reassuring presence for families and carers
• Signpost to relevant Marie Curie services

What we’re looking for

• Friendly, patient, and courteous
• Enjoy listening to others
• Comfortable talking to people from all walks of life
• Respectful and sensitive to others’ needs
• Happy to volunteer for about 3 hours each week
• Comfortable using email for quick updates
