Overview

The Center for Air Resources Engineering and Science (CAARES) is seeking a qualified individual to serve as part-time laboratory technician to assist in laboratory operations. The individual must have knowledge and experience with sample preparation (extraction/cleanup) as well as analytical instrumentation techniques.

 

Responsibilities

• Receive, login and store samples, standards and solvents as per established standard operating procedures. • Cleanup glassware and help maintain an organized lab. • Under supervision extract and cleanup environmental and biological samples using techniques such as accelerated solvent extraction and solid-phase extraction. • Under supervision analyze sample extracts using analytical instrumentation including gas and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry systems.

Qualifications

Education:

Minimal Qualifications: High School Degree.

 

Experience:Minimal Experience: Multiple high school or college chemistry, biology or physics courses with laboratory experience.

Preferred Experience: BS degree in life sciences

• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.• Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, and to work with shifting priorities and schedules.• Knowledgeable and experienced with basic laboratory operations.
