For the Power Equipment Service Technician, this means performing diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on power equipment with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and safety. By working independently and collaboratively with team members, the Power Equipment Service Technician helps ensure equipment reliability and supports the department in delivering high-quality service that meets Adams’ standards.


Your Day-to-Day

  • Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on power equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation
  • Inspect equipment to identify mechanical, electrical, or performance issues and determine appropriate repair solutions
  • Complete routine maintenance tasks, including tune-ups, oil changes, blade sharpening, and system checks
  • Troubleshoot and repair small engines, electrical systems, and hydraulic components
  • Test equipment after service to ensure proper functionality and performance
  • Maintain accurate records of service work, parts used, and repairs completed
  • Communicate with team members and service staff regarding equipment status, timelines, and repair needs
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with safety guidelines and company standards
  • Properly use and maintain tools, diagnostic equipment, and work areas to support a clean and organized shop
  • Assist in managing parts and supplies by identifying needs and supporting inventory organization
  • Provide support with customer inquiries related to equipment service and repairs as needed
  • Support overall service operations by assisting with additional tasks and projects as assigned

What you bring to the Farm

  • 2–5 years of experience in power equipment repair, small engine repair, or a related mechanical field
  • Strong understanding of small engines, electrical systems, and basic hydraulic components
  • Experience performing diagnostics, repairs, and routine maintenance on power equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and determine effective repair solutions
  • Proficiency in using tools, diagnostic equipment, and repair manuals
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality in all repair work
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and priorities
  • Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with team members and service staff
  • Demonstrates reliability, accountability, and a strong work ethic
  • Ability to demonstrate and support Adams’ culture and values
  • Exhibits enthusiasm, positivity, and a commitment to quality workmanship

Working Conditions

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to manage varying business demands.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly so others can understand, ensuring accurate information is exchanged in all situations.
  • Consistently move, adjust, and position items weighing up to 80 pounds (with assistance).
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods, combined with frequent movement throughout the service department and retail floor.
  • Ability to work at a computer to complete administrative and reporting tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Occasionally ascend/descend a stepstool, stepladder, and/or ladder.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers for the duration of the shift.
  • Moving self into different positions to accomplish tasks in various work environments.
  • Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions when handling equipment or assisting customers.
